University of Barcelona

Faculty of Biology, Department of Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Environmental Sciences

The University of Barcelona is IMARCS's academic and laboratory partner. Leading researchers from the university advise IMARCS and supervise its genomic work, and the university's lab is where samples are processed and analyzed, including the symbiont work on giant clams and corals.

FSM National Aquaculture Center Giant Clam Hatchery

Kosrae, Federated States of Micronesia · run through Micronesia Management and Marketing Enterprises

The National Aquaculture Center's giant clam hatchery, led by Martin Selch, is IMARCS's core field partner in Micronesia. Many of the clams in IMARCS's Japan facility came from the Kosrae hatchery, and the hatchery hosted IMARCS's initial research data collection, including sample collection for the clam-to-coral symbiont experiment.

Sustainable Aquatics

Sustainable Aquatics, a marine ornamental hatchery in Jefferson City, Tennessee, is IMARCS's livestock partner, supplying broodstock of various fish species and morphs.

Semirara Mining and Power Corporation

IMARCS has mapped out pilot research on SMPC's giant clam seeding program on Semirara Island in the Philippines, where SMPC mines coal, as part of the company's sustainability efforts. The planned grow-out monitoring includes counts and surveys of seeded clams, and study of the clams as natural filters.
